Special Seminar - "Public Play - Exploring the Interaction Between the City and Play" by Prof. Frank J. Lee

Professor Frank J. Lee explored the interaction between cities and play through large-scale interactive games and public installations. Hosted by the Graduate School of Culture Technology's Games and Life Lab, this seminar introduced his notable projects, including Pong on the Cira Centre (2013), Skyscraper Tetris (2014), Skyscraper Games by Kids (2019), Civil Dialog (2020), SIMPHL (2021), and Story Seek (2024). The seminar highlighted the significance of public play in cultural and social contexts.

Games and Life Lab Participates in the 2024 Korean Game Society Spring Academic Conference

Hyunyoung Oh and Junsuk Seo Receive Korea Game Society Best Paper Award

Guided by Professor Young Yim Doh, Hyunyoung Oh and Junsuk Seo won the Korea Game Society Best Paper Award for their presentation on Player Loyalty Experience to Animal Crossing: New Horizons: A Comparative Analysis between English-Speaking and Korean Players. Their paper offered a compelling comparative analysis on the distinct and shared aspects of player loyalty experiences across the two language groups.

Games and Life Lab Participates in the 2024 Korean Game Society Spring Academic Conference

Under the guidance of Professor Young Yim Doh, team members Hyunyoung Oh, Garam Eum, Eunbyul Park, Jihun Chae, and Junsuk Seo participated in the 2024 Korean Game Society Spring Academic Conference at Chung-Ang University from May 31 to June 1. Hyunyoung Oh and Junsuk Seo presented on Player Loyalty Experience to Animal Crossing: New Horizons: A Comparative Analysis between English-Speaking and Korean Players. Eunbyul Park and Jihun Chae discussed Challenges and Opportunities of Game NPC Research Using LLM: A Scoping Review. Garam Eum explored Games as a New Social Media: Analysis of Fortnite Players’ Social Participation Experience.

Jihun Chae Participates in Pohang City Cultural Arts Factory Responsive Media Facade Training Camp & Hackathon

Jihun Chae developed a responsive media facade based on Unreal Engine 5, which is now being projected on the exterior wall of the Pohang City Northern District Office. The awards ceremony was held on April 30, 2024, where Jihun Chae received the Grand Prize in the Hackathon and the President's Award from Handong Global University.

Ain Lee Participates in ACT Festival 2023 Future Legends

Ain Lee's game, Sensory Cube, was demonstrated at the Asia Culture Center (ACC) at Gwangju, Korea from November 10th to 19th. Sensory Cube is a game that offers a sensory experience as a player explore three rooms where each room presents consciousness, unconsciousness, and subconsciousness.
